April 2017: baseball and hockey and footie, oh my!

April flew by in the blink of an eye! I don’t even know where to start summarizing all of the fun things I did/ate/drank. I started the month with a Cincinnati tradition — Opening Day! I have been to the game a handful of times in my life, but I had never been to the Findlay Market Opening Day Parade. Last year I decided that 2017 was the year I would go — so I did! I figured it was the kind of thing I needed to experience at least once in my life. We lucked into a pretty good spot on Race Street (front row!) to watch the parade. However, I used all of my good karma up on the logistics of getting to the game and had none left over for the Reds or the weather, apparently. (Or maybe… they’re just bad.)

My trivia team’s weekly nerding culminated in a trip to the semifinals for Last Call Trivia, and our semifinals went well enough we were lucky to make it through to the finals! But that didn’t go so well for us…

We made it out to Nippert Stadium with 20,000+ of our closest friends to welcome FC Cincinnati back for their first home match of 2017.

I made two trips to Columbus with my sister — one early, vs. Caps and one late, vs. Pens (Playoffs, game 3) — and unfortunately both ended in the same way: with sadness (but I’ve been around long enough to be used to it).

There were a few visits to the Cincinnati Zoo, featuring the Zoo Blooms, which were sadly short-lived.

Overall, April was a great month and it was finally with lots of warm enough days to spend time outside at the zoo or having drinks on patios, and I got to see a lot of great friends and family on their birthdays this month! Onward to May!
