My Clermont County Bucket List
After living in Clermont County for approximately two-thirds of my life, I’d like to think that I have seen it all — but I really haven’t, and things change! With the help of Discover Clermont‘s website, I put together a list of things I think are absolutely the musts when visiting Clermont County. Quite a few of these I’ve done before, but some of these will be new to me! I hope you’ll join me on my journey and decide to take one yourself!

Five neat, new non-brewery places to get a drink in Cincinnati
I love beer, okay? Oh, you noticed? What gave it away? And I love going to breweries, near and far. But one of the downfalls of breweries is that, well, they really only have beer, and only their beer. What if you and your pals are on a bourbon kick? Or he wants Brink and you want MadTree? We’ve been checking out non-brewery places to drink lately, and here are a few of my favorites: Bishop’s Quarter (Loveland): This cute little place opened up in the revitalized, post-fire downtown Loveland. We’ve not tried the food (it’s New Orleans/southern themed, and I think appetizers/small plates only) but we have checked out…

Dayton Ale Trail
If you scroll back to last year, you’ll see where I recapped last winter’s beer-drinking adventure, the Cincinnati Brewery Passport. We had a lot of fun doing it and checking out some new places we ended up really liking (and some we didn’t). Fast forward to some time in late fall (I only know this because Bearcat football was on TV) when on an afternoon out we decided to make a stop at FigLeaf Brewing in Middletown, which turns out is not too far away from Monroe’s Rivertown Brewery. At FigLeaf we came across the Dayton Ale Trail passports! (I mean, I wouldn’t call that Dayton…) We’re not in Dayton…

The sticky-sweet Butler County Donut Trail
Have you heard of the Butler County Donut Trail? Just north of Cincinnati, scattered across Fairfield, Hamilton, Middletown, Oxford, and West Chester are twelve donut shops known as the Donut Trail, sponsored by the Butler County Convention & Visitor’s Bureau. You can download the passport off the website or pick one up in store at any of the locations included. Each one will stamp your passport (Oxford Doughnut Shoppe is optional & comes pre-stamped) and once you’ve got all twelve you can return the passport for a sweet t-shirt. Last year, a group of my friends got together to do the passport in one fell swoop. Unfortunately I had other commitments…

I’m off like an aeroplane…
A long, long time ago, when dinosaurs roamed the earth and I was in the latter stages of high school or just out of it, I had a friend who was really into aviation and planespotting. At the time, I had never been on a plane before and didn’t know much about them, but he took me to the viewing area at CVG and instantly I was hooked. He took me to the Dayton Air Show one summer (I think this was 2004 or 2005), and I can’t remember a damn thing about the air show that year other than I went (and it was hot, and I got the…

Travel Log: Cleveland (May 2017)
Cleveland is one of those cities that kind of unfortunately (for them) gets a bad rap for a variety of reasons (the Browns, dirty river on fire, Drew Carey, etc.) and because I’m from Cincinnati, I must assert my in-state superiority complex by making fun of it relentlessly. To be fair, I had been there a few times in my life… but always for sports and the city itself was an afterthought. I’ve been to Jacobs Field a few times (when it was still called Jacobs Field), and to Quicken Loans Arena a handful of times for hockey games, but never really explored the city beyond that. The boyfriend had never been…

April 2017: baseball and hockey and footie, oh my!
April flew by in the blink of an eye! I don’t even know where to start summarizing all of the fun things I did/ate/drank. I started the month with a Cincinnati tradition — Opening Day! I have been to the game a handful of times in my life, but I had never been to the Findlay Market Opening Day Parade. Last year I decided that 2017 was the year I would go — so I did! I figured it was the kind of thing I needed to experience at least once in my life. We lucked into a pretty good spot on Race Street (front row!) to watch the parade. However,…

February 2017: black-tie, brews, and ballroom dancing
February has been even more exciting than January was! We kicked off the month on February 4th with the Hearts for Hope Gala at the Duke Energy Convention Center, supporting Boys Hope Girls Hope Cincinnati. BHGH is a wonderful organization that, in their words, “provides educational opportunities and stability to motivated, underserved youth through residential and community-based programs.” I am proud to be involved with BHGH and work with their amazing Scholars, and proud that my company also supports the cause, affording more opportunities for the organization. The event was capped off by local band Soul Pocket playing for the crowd after dinner and ceremonies. We finished off our night by stopping by Queen City…
